Charles C. Morris Sr., 85, of Mt.Zion, passed away at6:23 p.m.,Monday, February 13, 2012, in Heritage Manor Health Facility.
A service to celebrate Charles’ life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2012, at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt.Zion, with Rev. Joel Stevenor officiating. Burial will be in Mt.ZionTownshipCemeterywith full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 11:00 a.m.until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Charles was bornAugust 7, 1926, in Springfield,ILthe son of John H. and Esther M. (Litz) Morris. He married Clarice M. Choate onAugust 30, 1944.
He retired in 1984 from Caterpillar having been a Project Engineer. He served in the US Navy during W.W.II in the submarine service. Charles was a 1950 graduate of Millikin University. He was a member of South Macon Masonic Lodge #467. He was a member of the Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church. He was one of the original founders of Mt. Zion Boy’s Baseball. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling with his wife in many leagues.
Surviving is his wife: Clarice of Mt. Zion; daughter: Cheryl Roberts and her husband Larry of Mt. Pulaski; sons: Charles Morris Jr. and his wife Linda of Decatur, Clark B. Morris and his wife Sue of Moores Hill, IN, and Craig Morris and his wife Hollie of Decatur; brother: Tice Sharp and his wife Kathy of Decatur; sister: Georgann Guidice and her husband Rome of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren: James B. Roberts, Jeremy B. Roberts and his wife Wendi,MichelleL.Copass, Charles C. Morris III, Kristi Hart and her husband Jon, Benjamin J. Morris and his wife Bobbi Jean, Craig M. Morris Jr. and E. Adam Morris and his wife Sadie; great-grandchildren: Madeline Roberts, Logan Roberts, Kylie Morris, Alyssa Hart, Raine Hart, Jonnie Hart, Gracie Hart, Kaitlyn Morris, Kimberlee Morris, and Craig M. Morris III.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: John, one sister: Samyna Whitehurst, and one great granddaughter: Lillie Jo Morris.
